CT Scan
Fast, detailed cross-sections of the head, chest, abdomen, spine, and blood vessels. Often the best first test for acute pain, trauma, kidney stones, and many lung questions.
When CT is best →Digital X-ray
Quick pictures of bones, chest, and sinuses. The first study for many injuries and coughs. Low dose, usually no prep, results routed to your doctor.
X-ray details →Ultrasound
Sound-wave images of organs, blood flow, muscles, and joints. No ionizing radiation. Useful in abdomen, vascular, and musculoskeletal rehab questions.
Ultrasound details →Bone Density (DEXA)
Measures bone strength to guide osteoporosis treatment and fracture prevention — especially relevant for older adults and long-term steroid use.

We order the study that answers the clinical problem. CT is not the right test for every question — see the CT page for when it is best and when we use X-ray or ultrasound instead.

Getting Started
How to get an imaging study
Most studies require an order from a licensed clinician. If you are already a patient, ask during your visit or message the office.
Outside orders accepted if the exam is one we perform. Bring the written order and your insurance card.

Wear comfortable clothing without metal when possible. Specific prep is on each exam page and at the prep guide.
A radiologist interprets the images. Your Family Medicine & Rehab clinician reviews the report with you.
